Essex Rivers Hub

The Environment Agency has been carrying out river restoration work on the River Crouch in Wickford Memorial Park. This work has involved installing large woody debris into a section of this river.

This woody debris will create inchannel habitat as well as help to slow the water, which can help to reduce flooding further downstream.

The wood used in this project was sourced from the park and cut to size and then imbedded into the bank. they were also secured in place using wooden stacks to ensure that they do not come loose and cause problems downstream.
