Essex Rivers Hub

Improve pony grazing area

There is a small area on the east bank that is being grazed by ponies but they are having quite a significant impact on the banks and surrounnding land.

These ponies access the channel to drink, which has resulted in bank erosion and trampling. This could be reduced by fencing areas of the bank to limit the areas they can access. Also the field where they graze appeared to be becoming overgrazed so it would benefit the river to allow some bankside vegetation to develop. Again fencing would help with this if it was positioned a distance of a few metres from the waters edge.
