Essex Rivers Hub

Ditches are unique habitats which not only support many different species, but also provide many other ecosystem services. Ditches can act as a barrier between farmland and rivers and help to prvent river contamination with run off and also reduce the amount of run off nutrients entering a system.

From a farmers point of view, ditches can help to prevent flooding on farm land and therefore increase the chances of having a higher yield due to reduced chances of flood damage.

This site requiers the restoration of 600m of ditches by removing the silt that has currently built up in them. By doing this the function of the ditches can be resumed in this area.
